One star for some strange sentence constructions and editing issues, neither of which detract from the story.This, for me, was a really good follow up to the first book. Plenty of humor, magical fighting, action and plot twists. I love a good plot twist, and it comes out of left field. Has mythical creatures making an appearance, including our favorite Chimera. The family comes together, and of course Brenna is slap in the middle of it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, she is one stubborn demon though, but I think her group of five all have a bit of that. They also work well together. We meet a new character, one that is mentioned in the first book. Also, Daniel expands on the prophecy and something happens to him as well.
I like the writing style, the world building and the depth of characters. I recommend if you like headstrong women leads, who don't wilt under pressure. Also, if you are looking for a good book without the insta-love you find in a lot of books nowadays, this would be it.

I don't think I could say anything bad about this series
My favorite Author ...... yea!
I liked this book a lot. The story stayed interesting for me and I really wanted to see what happened to the characters. The book was well written which helped in reading the action. I ended up ordering all the books in this series and I will buy from this author again.
What's not to like? Great family, great friends, great enemies, and great adventure and drama. Brenna has her hands full again but at least she has plenty of help. As usual,her methods or unorthodox and the effects are unpredictable. A feel good book.
This is the second in this series and just like the dreams and realities books, each one adds, embellishes, and improves upon the previous! Keep them coming!
This is the second book in the Strachan Series and completely had me at page one. I find the setting and characters in these books to be original and imaginative. I loved the fact the the demons and witches love amongst the humans and protect them and keep the peace. I am looking forward to book 3!
The 2nd outing for Brenna and her friends (almost wrote 'fiends' there) and family finds a now-matured Demon-Witch, helping out the family business hunting down the bad seeds of paranormal society. Still getting used to her uniqueness, and importance, Brenna is nonetheless as conflicted, sharp witted and the biggest danger magnet in the land as usual. This time her family take a more central role as prophecy and portent (and donuts) vie for her attention. There is more humor and more warmth in this instalment of the series; something which adds a lot to our heroine's already impressive arsenal. She's a very likeable demon, and a very capable witch.
There a couple of those pesky spelling booboos in this book, but they are the usual 'bare for bear' type ones. Nothing really terrible. I can be a bit of a spelling Nazi at times but grammar issues tend to pass by my radar unseen. If the sentences flow well, and sound right, then I'm not bothered. Also, having heard of the editing woes that Ms. James has run into, I think I'll give her a pass on the entire thing. (AND I already read the 3rd book and am now IMpatiently waiting for the 4th!)
